As much advance planning as possible provides the key to reducing stress and ensuring a smooth, trouble-free day. Before the collection time:

Inside - It is advisable to make sure that all your crates and cases are carefully stacked to ensure easy access to each room with a minimal risk of tripping up.

Outside - Please refer to the Container Specifications which will provide you with details of the length and width of the container to enable you to ensure that the road has been sufficiently cleared for the loading point, don’t forget the extra space required to open the container doors. Should there be a potential problem with blocking the road then contact the council as you may require their permission.

IMPORTANT - REMEMBER, REMEMBER THE HEIGHT OF THE TRAILER

The container will arrive at your old/new home on a trailer which stands approximately 1 metre above the road surface. Any vehicle which needs to be loaded will require a ramp or loading bay.

When the container arrives - From the moment the truck stops you will have 3 free hours to load all your possessions into the container. Should you need more time, then a cost of approximately £45.00 (depending on the shipping line) will be charged per hour or part thereof. Try and persuade as many friends as possible to help you with the task, as loading can take longer than anticipated (although one of our client’s who was ably assisted with willing helpers managed the task in 45 minutes.)

Both trucks and ships can move - just picture the high seas! So ensure that everything is securely loaded into the container. Try and stow blankets, bedding, towels etc. in suitable bags which can then be used to fill in any of the gaps where items might move in transit. The driver will provide you with a container seal which you must use to ‘seal’ the container once you have completed the loading of all your belongings. Make a note of both the container number and the container seal (keep this safe) for your own records and forward The Packing List to us.

Congratulations, your container will now be shipped on board the first available vessel. We will organise all the relevant paperwork for you and keep you fully informed of the sailing date and the crucial destination arrival date.
