Hazardous Goods - Items classed as hazardous include aerosols, paint, gas cylinders, corrosives (including bleach) and chemicals etc. Although the Shipping Line may permit their inclusion in your container there will be a hefty surcharge. Your insurance company must also be informed if they are to be included in the container. BEWARE if you ship these items and do not declare them you could be fined, your goods impounded and your insurance cover invalidated.
Machinery - Should you intend to load anything powered by petrol or diesel (car, motor bike, lawn mower etc.) the tank must be fully drained of fuel. Any battery connection must also be disconnected. Beware the car’s suspension and do not overload it with possessions!
Perishable Goods/Liquids - It is advisable that these are not included in your container as they may leak and cause damage to your possessions, but contact your insurance company just to make sure.
Building Materials - These are not strictly Personal Effects so please declare
these if you are intending to include them in your container.
