We recognise that our people are our greatest strength and we are extremely proud of the truly talented team we have built. Motivation, drive, enthusiasm, a sense of humour and decades of experience in the shipping industry have combined to provide a balanced and ambitious container management team.
In addition to an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the freight forwarding business, many Maritime Cargo Services (MCS) staff have been recruited from outside of the industry. This includes many from client sectors such as frozen food distribution, retail, shipping management, insurance, manufacturing and construction. This has given the company the benefit of the widest possible range of experience and ideas along with valuable insights into the key requirements of its customers.
Above and beyond the obvious technical skills and experience that MCS demands from its team members, it’s a prerequisite that they are all innovative, responsible, committed, show creativity and attention to detail with an absolute determination to deliver on time and on budget.
Before establishing MCS, Rob acquired extensive commercial shipping experience working for several industry giants. Since then he has successfully run MCS for over 20 years achieving double-digit growth year on year.
A graduate from the Business School at City University, Emily has worked in the logistics sector for many years developing an in-depth knowledge of the industry. She was appointed Partner in 2007 to assist Rob with the expansion and future development of MCS.

“Maritime Cargo Services (MCS) is a phenomenally successful freight-forwarding company and we directly attribute this success to the fact that we employ a highly motivated, capable and conscientious team”, says MCS partner, Emily Shelley.
Continual success and growth means that the company is always interested in receiving CVs from professionals keen to ‘make a difference’. In return, MCS provides first-class terms and conditions and a superb working environment with above industry-rate salaries, a company pension plan (after a qualifying period), substantial quarterly bonuses (based on company and personal performance) and 21 days annual leave (rising to 25 days according to length of service).
MCS is an equal opportunities employer and actively recruits from both inside and outside of the shipping industry. In the first instance, please contact Emily Shelley at firstname.lastname@example.org
